What If You Stopped Focusing on How Hard It Is?
Apr 17, 2025
Every Thursday morning, I do a double workout.
Every Thursday morning, I catch myself thinking:
"This is so hard." "This is so hard." "This is so hard."
And this week, somewhere between the second set and the final round, it hit me:
I know it’s hard. I choose it every single week. I do it every single week.
So why is my brain so fixated on how hard it is—instead of how powerful I am for doing it?
We do the same thing in business, leadership, and goal-setting:
-
We see the difficult conversation—not the courage it took to have it.
-
We feel the overwhelm—not the growth it represents.
-
We notice the challenge—not the strength we’re building through it.
Hard is inevitable. Hell, if you’re an entrepreneur or a leader, chances are you picked it.
You picked the path of big goals, deep impact, and aligned leadership. You picked the life that would stretch you, shape you, and ask more of you.
So what would shift if you stopped focusing on the fact that it’s hard—and started focusing on the fact that you’re doing it anyway?
Because the hard isn’t the problem. The problem is thinking that it shouldn’t be hard. Or that hard means you’re not doing it right.
When you build self-trust, you stop needing everything to be easy to feel aligned. You stop interpreting discomfort as a detour.
You start to see the hard stuff as proof. Not just that you can do it—but that you are.
This is what we work on inside The Self Trust Executive™. We don’t try to avoid the hard. We learn how to rise inside of it.
If you want to stop spinning and start executing at the level you’re truly capable of—this is for you.
Curious? I’m teaching a powerful new masterclass that breaks this down:
Bold Execution Starts Within. If you want the details, drop a comment or DM me and I’ll make sure you get the invite when it drops.
Know someone who needs this? Share this post with them. This is the kind of conversation more leaders need to be having.
With trust,
Dawn
